Encrypt Easy is a file security utility for Windows. It allows you to encrypt and then decrypt any file or folder on your system. Unlike similar applications, Encrypt Easy adds a few contextual buttons to the right-click menu (the one that pops up when you right-click on a file or folder on your desktop or in Windows Explorer). Thus, encrypting a file is as easy as selecting it, right-clicking on it and selecting the corresponding option.
When you click on the "encrypt with EE" button with a file selected, the application will be launched and the selected file loaded into it. From the application window you can type the password that you want to use for encryption along with the encryption algorithm that you want to apply to your file. There are six algorithms available: Rijndael, Twofish, Blowfish, DES, TripleDES and RC2. From the "Options" tab, you can also set a save restriction, data compression, and tell the application to delete the source file after it has been decrypted or encrypted.
The files that you encrypt with this app will then launch Encrypt Easy when you open them, allowing you to enter the password to decrypt them.
In short, Encrypt Easy is a nice encryption tool. I like that it is tightly integrated with Windows to make the task considerably easier. In my testing, I didn't find any problems and everything went smoothly. The encrypted files couldn't be opened without a password and I was able to decrypt them just fine by supplying the password that I used.
- Great integration with Windows.
- 6 algorithms.
